Fitzand has always been fascinated by pool tables (and balls!) whenever he sees one … usually at the beach bar that we sometimes bring him to. A couple of times we gave him some coins to have a game or two but due to his height and age … hahahaha … all he could do was to push the balls into the pockets with his hands. Today I came across this little pool table and he immediately told me he wanted one. Luckily it costs about S$3.90 and so now he has a new toy in his already large collection.
He didn’t really need me to show him how to play it. So I asked him how to go about playing it and he was glad to let meĀ video his short but pretty interesting ‘lesson’ …
In the video, you will hear him repeating the word ‘pop!’. Hahaha! Pop! Pop! Boomz!
The funniest thing was when I asked him how many balls are left … in Mandarin. He has picked up some Mandarin and can speak some Mandarin (usually pronounced like a Caucasian who has just learned some Mandarin words) in childcare. I asked him ‘hai you ji li?‘ which means ‘how many balls are there left?’. Sorry I can’t write in Chinese except maybe my name and a handful of basic words, but those who understand Mandarin will probably understand what I’m trying to say. Fitzand gave me a strange look after I asked him that. He paused for a moment and replied … ‘wo bu yao chilli!!!‘. Hahahaha! I almost fainted hearing the reply. He thought that ‘ji li‘ means ‘chilli’. He can’t take spicy food (yet) and after a couple of times he tasted a bit if chilli … he probably thought I was trying to ask if he wants chilli. ‘Wo bu yao‘ means ‘I don’t want’ in Mandarin. LOL!
It is pretty scary to think how time flies. It was just like yesterday that I held a newborn in my arms and soon … come January next year … he will be 3 years old! I am pretty worried to think of maybe in another 10 years time … he might come tell me he wants a real pool table. It is not that it will cost an arm or a fat leg of mine … but the size of the flat I live in … a pool table will mean either my sofa set or a bed has to go.

O.O! buy the real table lah! talented. lol
@ymmij : I remember you having one of those real pool table in the tiger’s den. Did you leave it there? Maybe you can sell it to me.
……….
@norya : Why speechless? Because I mentioned ‘tiger’s den’???
